What’s Next?|Central, KY Photographer

I’m sitting here thinking about the past year and the year to come and I’m not sure where to begin this post. One thing for certain, the “To Do” list is still here and staring at me, but I can start checking those things off tomorrow, right? 2017 was one of big changes for me personally and professionally.

The first thing that happened for me was that I started teaching at Chatfield College. http://www.chatfield.edu I love Chatfield. It’s a beautiful campus and I really enjoy being there. The students have been so pleasant and I hope that I am making a small difference in their lives. Since moving to Kentucky, I drive 4 hours round trip once a week to teach the class. Yes, it makes sense to find a teaching position closer to home and there are many nice schools near my new home, but for now I’ll make the drive to Chatfield once a week and have the option to see my Ohio pals and my Mama while I’m there. 🙂

One of the other big highlights was that I had my first international sale, I mailed one of my photo creations to Australia. https://www.etsy.com/listing/154967079/mother-teresa-poem-with-southern-oaks?ref=shop_home_active_1 Here is the link if you would like to check it out for yourself or for a gift, lots of other photo items on the Etsy as well. :)SONY DSC

I also got to do some traveling. I went to New York and New Jersey with my aunt and my cousin in April and we had a really great trip! After the big apple, I headed to Tennessee with my big bro and his family, along with my Dad and Step-Mom. It’s always nice to get away with family. I love it and the memories made.

SONY DSCSONY DSCI love this pic of St Patricks Cathedral, especially the bird in flight. I think this and the next image would look great on metal. What do you guys think?

SONY DSCGrand Central Station was amazing!

I even had the chance for the first time to travel outside the country and I made way to the Dominican Republic.

This is me getting a kiss from a sea lion (he smelled fishy) before swimming with sharks, seals, and sting rays. Absolutely beautiful place. 🙂

After that came Arlington, DC, and Gettysburg…

I’ll say that when it comes to my own photos of vacations, holiday, nieces and nephew birthdays, and pretty much anything else personal I don’t get them edited very quickly. I tend to put my things on the back burner. Goal in 2018…organize my personal photos better.

I had the chance to go on several little weekend getaways and of course the annual deer camp getaway with family. Some of my best memories are from deer season each year and if we are in Ohio (like back in the old days), Kentucky (for a few years), and now in Missouri, I’m so glad we all make the effort to still do this. There are eight Johnson’s in this photo and we all came together from five different states. Also, our annual camo pic has become a favorite also. 🙂

As I’ve said in previous posts, in August I left my job at the police department after 13 years and moved to Kentucky. I bought a little house along with goats and chickens and my hounds that have been living with my Dad for the past year and a half came back to me. Life is simple and happy. My business is doing as well as can be expected for starting over in a new place. I had my first opportunity to be the photographer at a homecoming dance and that was a wonderful experience that I hope to have again. This coming weekend I’ll be going to my first bridal show in Lexington, KY and I’m hopeful that will also be a good opportunity for my business to get more exposure. My 2018 goals are written down for my personal life, my health, my business, and for this little mini farm.

I wish all of you the very best new year to come and pray for all good things. What are some of your goals? Resolutions? I’d love to hear from you. Maybe you are planning a wedding, adding to your family, or just going to maintain your current awesome. Whatever it may be, lets make 2018 great!!

Thanks for stopping by,

Hanna 🙂
